Raj Kothari

 

My professional and business experience, over 40 years, spans Canada, UK and India in the areas of business assurance and advisory services, strategy, governance and risk, transaction support, valuation of Asset Management Companies and advisory services to small and large clients in a variety of businesses.

In Canada, I specialized in advising clients in the asset and wealth management industry, including: mutual funds, pooled funds, hedge funds, structured products, venture capital funds, investment management companies, service providers and special purpose investment vehicles. My experience also includes banking, insurance, trading and manufacturing businesses.

Beyond the audit and advisory components of my role, I was an early pioneer and promoter of “Doing Business in India”.  Leveraging my personal knowledge of the Indian market and regulations, I was able to assist several Canadian companies to develop their strategies for entry, and obtain the appropriate registrations and approvals for operations in India.

​

I am passionate about applying my industry knowledge and network to better serve the community. In addition to serving on various Not-for-Profit boards – holding numerous senior leadership positions, and raising over $15-million through various campaigns – I also took a personal interest in providing mentorship and guidance towards increasing participation on Not-for-Profit boards amongst my peers and colleagues, and designed and executed the CFO of the Year Awards in Canada to recognize excellence amongst corporate leaders.

Through all aspects of my experience, my “Principal” mind set, pragmatism, global outlook, and business acumen have driven success for my clients and my own organization. My extensive, international network, and ability to build authentic and trusted relationships have proven to be a great asset at a corporate, and Not-for-Profit level.
